Rachelle Gerodias-Park
Rachelle Gerodias-Park is a distinguished Filipina soprano whose illustrious career has spanned three decades, marked by critically acclaimed performances and prestigious awards. Notably, she has been honored with "The Outstanding Young Men" award in 2010 and "The Outstanding Women in the Nation’s Service" award in 2013.
Rachelle Gerodias holds the esteemed title of being the first "Aliw Awards Hall of Fame" awardee for Best Female Classical Performer, solidifying her position as the brightest gem in the field of opera and classical vocal performances in the Philippines.
Throughout her career, Ms. Gerodias has captivated audiences as a soloist under internationally renowned conductors such as Georg Tintner, Yu Long, Zuohuang Chen, Uros Lajovic, and Christoph Eschenbach. She has graced the stages of prestigious orchestras worldwide, including the China National Symphony Orchestra, Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra, Bangkok Symphony Orchestra, Pacific Music Festival Orchestra, the L’Orchestra Citta di Firenze, and the Sarajevo Philharmonic Orchestra, among others.
Her collaboration with opera legend Mirella Freni distinguishes her as the first Filipina to have worked with the renowned diva. Ms. Gerodias made her European opera debut in 2008 as Liu in Puccini’s Turandot at the Volksoper Wien in Vienna, Austria. She continued to make history by becoming the first Filipina to perform at the Daegu Opera House in South Korea, starring in productions of "Il Barbiere di Siviglia" and "Don Giovanni." A regular guest at the Singapore Lyric Opera, she has earned acclaim for her lead roles in numerous opera productions, drawing praise from critics for her sincere portrayal of characters.
Ms. Gerodias holds a master’s degree in Vocal Performance and Literature from the renowned Eastman School of Music in New York, as well as a Professional Diploma in Opera studies from the Hong Kong Academy for the Performing Arts. She honed her craft under the guidance of Prof. Gloria Coronel at the University of Santo Tomas Conservatory of Music in Manila.
In addition to her performing career, Ms. Gerodias is dedicated to nurturing the next generation of talent. Together with her husband, Korean Baritone Byeong In Park, she operates the Gerodias-Park Music Studio, where they mentor and train aspiring young singers.
Ms. Gerodias' artistry can be experienced through several CD recordings with renowned artists, including collaborations with the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra and the London Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Redentor Romero. In 2013, she released her solo album, "Philippine Art Songs," featuring Dr. Raul Sunico on the piano.
Driven by a desire to give back to her community, she founded the Rachelle Gerodias Music Foundation, aimed at providing scholarships to talented but underprivileged musicians, ensuring that her legacy extends beyond the stage.
Ms. Gerodias continues to mesmerize audiences with her exceptional talent, as evidenced by her recent performance in "Suor Angelica" by Puccini, presented by the Italian Embassy of Manila and the Manila Symphony Orchestra.
In recognition of her continued excellence in the field of classical music, Ms. Gerodias was honored with the prestigious Philippine LEAF Awards for Classical Music, adding yet another accolade to her illustrious career. This award serves as a testament to her enduring commitment to artistic excellence and her invaluable contributions to the cultural landscape of the Philippines.
