This AAPI Heritage Month, join us at The Nick for A Long March, an eye-opening documentary about the Filipino American veterans of WWII—soldiers who fought for the U.S. only to be erased from history and denied the benefits they were promised. In this heartfelt and powerful debut, director TS Botkin follows these veterans on their decades-long fight for justice, from the battlefield to the steps of Congress.

After the screening, stick around for a special live Q&A with director TS Botkin, who will be joining us via Zoom to share insights into the making of this award-nominated independent film.

About the film

A revealing look at how the United States conscripted Filipino American forces to defeat WWII Axis powers – then systematically denied these veterans the rights and benefits promised for honorable service. Our film follows three of these veterans as they endeavor to right the wrong. As judicial solutions hit a brick wall and all eyes turn to Congress, will America stand up for the values it claims, and will these veterans get the recognition they deserve before they are all dead?

The exhibit Faces to Remember is a portrait exhibit designed to educate viewers about Filipino American World War II veterans, the Bataan Death March, and their decades-long fight for recognition of their service. It will be installed at Richland Library Main (1431 Assembly St, Columbia, SC 29201) on the first level from May 16-June 13, 2025.
